King George Medical University
Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh
King George Medical University was formally opened in 1914 with 232 beds. In the years to come, KGMU grew to encompass a Provincial Hygiene Institute, Queen Mary's Hospital for Women and Children, and a TB hospital that was later converted to a TB department. With 39 operation theatres and diverse specialty departments, KGMU is committed to providing quality medical care and excellent medical education to their patients and students. We currently have a pediatric oncology project across three different departments-pediatrics, ophthalmology, and hematology.
We began the first pediatric project at KGMU in the pediatric department in late 2012, with the support of local champion, Dr. Archana Kumar. Dr. Kumar is the Head of the Department of Pediatrics and Professor of Pediatric Hemato-Oncology at KGMU. We currently support one social worker, one data manager, one nurse, one pharmacist, and one fellow at this site.
