Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences
Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir
The Sher-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) was founded in 1977 to provide quality and progressive patient care and medical education to its patients and students, respectively. SKIMS was also created to better serve the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir so that dependence on out of state medical institutions would be reduced and patients could receive quality care locally, regardless of state turmoil or natural disasters. We currently have one pediatric oncology and one palliative care at site at this project.
The Foundation's pediatric oncology project at SKIMS began in 2014, with support from our local champion, Dr. Gull Mohammad Bhat and the Director of SKIMS, Dr. Showkat Zargar. Dr. Bhat is a Professor of Pediatric Oncology with a special interest in Bone Marrow Transplantation and Lymphoma. We currently support one social worker and one data manager at this site.
JDF's palliative care project at SKIMS began in 2013, with support from Dr. Showkat Zargar. Dr. Zargar is also the director of SKIMS. We currently support one doctor, one data manager, and one social worker at this site.
