Institute of Hematology, Kolkata Medical College
Kolkata, West Bengal

The Institute of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine at Kolkata Medical College was established in 2002 to provide medical services and training related to hematology and transfusion medicine. The Institute of Hematology was also founded in part to address the increasing number of cases of Thalassaemia in West Bengal, the lack of bone marrow transplantation facilities in the region, and the lack of specialization in hematology and transfusion medicine in Eastern India. With the intention of filling these gaps, the Institute of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine has plans for a separate facility for Bone Marrow Transplantation. We currently have one pediatric oncology project at this site.
