Sawai ManSing Medical College
The Sawai ManSing (SMS) Medical College was created in 1947, as an addition to the existing maternity hospital, one dispensary, and one medical school. SMS Medical College houses the Birla Cancer Centre, which treats adult and pediatric cancer patients. In 1952, SMS Medical College was officially recognized by the Medical Council of India in 1952, after which the new OPD block was laid out and the P.G. courses began. We currently have one pediatric oncology and one palliative care project at this site, within the Birla Cancer Centre.

The palliative care project at SMS began in 2014 with Dr. Hemant Malhotra as the local champion. Dr. Malhotra is a Professor of Medicine and Head of the Department of Medical Oncology at the Birla Cancer Centre. We support one nurse and one data manager at this site.
