Site Overview
Located in Vellore, Tamil Nadu, CMC is one of the premiere medical institutions in India. It was founded by Dr. Ida Scudder, the daughter of an American missionary, in 1900. Today, CMC Vellore is a tertiary care hospital that sees almost 5,500 outpatients a day from all over the country, in addition to being one of the top medical schools in the country, a feat made even more impressive by the fact that CMC Vellore raises all its own funds to continue operation. Their pediatric oncology unit receives about 300 referrals a year from a wide variety of geographic locations.

Project Overview
CMC Vellore and JDF began their collaboration in August 2009. The foundation partners with CMC Vellore to give salary support for a social worker, pharmacist, data manager, day care nurse, and administrative assistant. This staff continues to increase the capacity of the unit in delivering optimal care to their young patients, providing a new level of structure and organization to the unit, and has been a standout program in raising financial aid to support cancer patients in their department.
