Site Overview
Founded by Dr. Saroj Gupta in the 1970s, the Cancer Centre Welfare Home’s mission is to be a “Home Away from Home” for both pediatric and adult cancer patients. The 280-bed hospital is surrounded by beautiful grounds, and the staff strives to make patients as comfortable as possible during their stay. Dr. Arnab Gupta, Dr. Saroj’s son, has carried on his dedication to the cancer center. The hospital is a WHO-recognized institution and sees thousands of new patients annually.

Project Overview
The Foundation’s partnership with CCWHRI developed out of the hospital’s affiliation with JDF’s sister organization, the Indo-American Cancer Association. The IACA has provided funding for CCWHRI’s new palliative care department. Jiv Daya is funding a data manager and a social worker for the pediatric oncology department. JDF, in partnership with the CanKids…KidsCan National Outreach Program, will use CCWHRI as a base for reaching more Eastern India patients.
