The Foundation’s initiative to assist Pathology departments was inspired through some of our pediatric oncology partners who suffered from a lack of access to flow cytometry testing and hemograms for their patients. These centers are also often unable to purchase quality reagents, process tissues and stains, or train staff for performance in any of these areas. Despite rapidly advancing technologies, India, along with many other areas of the world, continues to struggle with distribution of specialized pathology care, an essential piece of ensuring accurate diagnoses. Without the proper diagnosis, doctors are left without full understanding of a patient’s condition and are not able to treat effectively. The Foundation ultimately desires to make a measurable impact on the field of diagnostics through more specialized training, supplying improved reporting software, and providing salary support for manpower.
